What makes September in Banff so special?

What makes September in Banff so special?

I think September is one of the most magical times to visit Banff.
Summer gently fades, and the first signs of autumn begin to appear: golden larches, crisp mountain air, and a slower, more peaceful rhythm in town. It's the perfect time for a more relaxed and authentic mountain experience.

I believe this season is made for rediscovering life’s simple pleasures. And what better way to embrace the moment than with a warm cup of tea in your hands?

What do I love about September in Banff?

🍁 Fall colors begin to show especially in places like Larch Valley, Sunshine Meadows, or the Lake Louise shoreline trail. It’s an ideal time to hike without the heat of summer or the crowds of winter.
🧣 Cooler temperatures invite you to slow down, cozy up, and enjoy moments of stillness.
🌤️ Crisp, sunny days offer the best of both worlds , perfect for outdoor adventures or quiet moments indoors.

One of my favorite activities this time of year is going for a hike, especially along the Sundance Canyon Trail. It’s a short and easy walk, but what truly makes it special is the view: all along the trail, you can see the trees changing color as autumn settles in.

The path winds gently through the forest, and the air carries that crisp scent that only September brings. It’s the kind of place where you can walk slowly, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of the season , maybe even with a thermos of tea in hand and one of my favorite fall blends: Masala Chai.
