The Mindful Cup: Tea Rituals for Inner Peace and Clarity

At Jolene's Tea House, we believe tea has a direct connection to the mind.  Taking the time to enjoy a cup of tea will help you find space in each day. Every sip nourishes the body and invites a moment of peace and mindfulness.  The simple act of taking a breath, savoring the aroma of your steeped tea, and experiencing its flavor allows you to reconnect with the present moment and with yourself.

This time to pause can help recharge your energy and sharpen your focus, especially during the colder months when we need it most. Tea is a guilt-free pleasure, perfect for enjoying throughout the day—morning to evening. Embrace mindfulness, recharge, and reignite your passion with our hand picked selection of four organic blends perfect for winter months.

1. Morning intention with Monks Blend

Tea: Monks Blend
Start your day with a peaceful ritual that sets a calm tone for everything that follows. Brew a pot of Monks Blend, a smooth black tea with the delicate aroma of vanilla and a hint of citrus. As the tea steeps, take a few moments to sit in stillness. Close your eyes and breathe deeply, allowing the warmth of the tea to comfort you. Reflect on the day ahead—what intentions do you want to set? What’s one thing you can do today that brings you joy? Trust your intuition and open yourself to new possibilities. Today's gonna be a good day ;) You’ll find that you’re better equipped to handle whatever comes your way.

2. Breathing Into Balance with Yoga Chai

Tea: Yoga Chai
Yoga isn’t just for the body—it’s for the mind too. Brew a cup of our Yoga Chai, a spicy and aromatic blend that balances bold chai spices with the sweetness of liquorice. While sipping your tea, engage in a few simple breathwork exercises: inhale deeply for a count of four, hold for four, and exhale for four. Repeat for twelve rounds.

After your breathing, scan the body from the crown of your head to the sole of the feet. Allow the warmth of the chai to center you and encourage your thoughts to slow down.

Yes, I promise it is possible to feel grounded while invigorated at the same time.

3. Afternoon Walk with Jasmine Green

Tea: Jasmine Green
In the middle of a busy afternoon, it’s easy to feel drained. A quiet break with Jasmine Green tea offers the perfect respite. The floral notes of jasmine and the refreshing green tea base create a light, soothing experience that helps clear mental fog and reset your focus.

Bring a travel mug of Jasmine Green Tea for a refreshing burst of energy. Find a comfortable spot, sip your tea, and close your eyes to capture every surrendering sounds: a child laughing, the wind whispering in the trees, cars hissing past, a siren in the distance…Even silence contains sounds. After some experience, you might be able to pick out individual sounds. If your mind wanders, recognise the thought and let it go and bring your attention back to the sounds around you. Once we understand how to let sounds be sounds, we can let our thoughts be thoughts without attachment nor aversion.

This small act of mindfulness can refresh your energy and refocus your mind for the rest of the day.

4. Rediscover Reading poetry

Tea: Moonlight Jasmine White

Find a cozy spot, brew a cup of Moonlight Jasmine White, a delicate and fragrant tea that perfectly complements the quiet beauty of the gentle rhythms of poetry. Whether it’s the calming flow of a poem by Mary Oliver or the soothing words of Rumi, poetry has the power to help you slow down, reflect, and connect with the present moment. Allow each verse to wash over you as you sip your tea, letting the words stir your emotions and invite mindfulness. This simple yet profound practice can be a beautiful way to unwind, escape, and find meaning in the everyday.

My favourite poem from Rumi:

"This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
 as a guide from beyond."
